PRACTICE OF LAW: Admitted to practice law before all State and Appellate Courts of the State of Alabama, 1988. Also admitted to practice law before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama, 1988. Practiced law continuously since graduation from law school. Prior to appointment as a Circuit Court Judge by Governor Kay Ivey in June 2023, served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of Alabama for 21 years. While with the U.S. Attorney’s Office held the positions of Senior Legal Counsel and Chief of the Criminal Division. Prior to joining the United States Attorney’s Office, served as legal advisor to the Mobile Police Department, was an associate in the private practice of law, and served as a part-time municipal court judge for the City of Prichard. Before entering private practice, served as a District Court Judge in Mobile County. Prior to taking the bench, was an Assistant District Attorney in Mobile County for nine years, including a period as team leader for murder prosecution.
